Matrix is an 8-minute performance consisting of live-generated electronic music and visuals. During the performance, musical ideas are triggered by the performer using a graphical interface. The music is accompanied by live visuals representing the melodic and harmonic ideas through abstract shapes and colors. The piece investigates the Bohlen-Pierce scale, based on odd-integer ratios (3:5:7), considered by theorists as a viable alternative to the traditional major scale, based on even-integer ratios (2:4:6).
